Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 8, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Skeptik collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. Skeptik ("Skeptik", "we", "us") is operated by EADS Ventures L.L.C., located in [State/Country]. If you have questions, contact us at privacy@skeptik.co.
1. Who this applies to
This policy applies to visitors and account holders of skeptik.co and any related Skeptik services (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and authentication details managed by our authentication provider.
- Listing inputs. The marketplace listing URLs you submit for analysis.
- Feedback you choose to share. If you submit optional Decision Data (for example, whether you bought an item and how it turned out) or participate in Skeptik Academy, we collect those responses.
- Communications. Messages you send us for support or other requests.
Information collected automatically
- Analysis records. The results we generate for a listing, including the rating, the underlying signals, and related metadata.
- Usage and device data. Basic technical data such as IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and timestamps, used for security, debugging, and product improvement.
- Cookies. We use a small number of first-party cookies. See "Cookies" below.
Payment information
Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not collect or store your full card number. We retain a Stripe customer identifier and your subscription status so we can manage your plan.
3. How we use information
- To provide the Service, including analyzing listings and generating results.
- To create and manage your account and subscription.
- To enforce usage limits (for example, free-analysis counts).
- To improve our analysis quality, product, and research, including aggregated, non-identifying insights.
- To communicate with you about the Service, security, and support.
- To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and technical issues.
- To comply with legal obligations.
4. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as described below.
- Service providers (subprocessors). We share information with vendors who process data on our behalf, including our hosting and database provider, our authentication provider, our payment processor (Stripe), and our AI provider (Anthropic), which processes listing content and images to generate analysis.
- Marketplace data sources. To analyze a listing, we request public listing data from the relevant marketplace (for example, eBay) using its interfaces.
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Skeptik, our users, or others.
- Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
5. AI processing
Skeptik uses third-party artificial intelligence services to help generate written analysis and to review listing photos. The listing text and images you submit may be sent to that provider for processing. Analysis output is informational only and is not a legally significant decision about you.
6. Cookies
We use first-party cookies that are necessary for the Service to function, including cookies that keep you signed in, track anonymous free-analysis usage, and support administrative access. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. Most browsers let you control cookies through their settings. Blocking essential cookies may prevent parts of the Service from working.
7. Data retention
We keep personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, and afterward as necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Analysis records and aggregated research data may be retained in de-identified form.
8. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, these rights arise under the GDPR. If you are a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA and CPRA, including the right to know, to delete, to correct, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by that law. To exercise any right, contact privacy@skeptik.co. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. International transfers
We and our service providers may process information in countries other than where you live. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
11. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and revise the "Last updated" date. Material changes may be communicated through the Service or by email.
